I always get stressed at the thought of having to hang a picture on a wall, and so I decided to channel that in a story. It’s like my brain explodes with all the things that could go wrong. Do I have the right hanging fixtures? What if it’s crooked? Have I accounted for the tensile strength of the string? What if I don’t like it there?

Soooo…I was digging through the blog posts and realized that this was stuck in the Drafts for way longer than it should’ve been. This was my first story and publication of 2025, and is actually the first story in an unpublished series that I will eventually find a home for.

I think all cultures have some sort of soup - bits of ingredients boiled and simmered down into something warm and nourishing, each bowl, a reminder of history and tradition. I did not grow up with fish soup, so having it now is a new experience in my adult life. And eating it is something I find particularly challenging. So, I decided to write about it.

Back in May, I was lucky enough to catch some amazing views of the Aurora Borealis quite close to home, and it got me thinking. Inspiration is a funny thing.

A long time ago, back in 2017, I had a page-a-day calendar of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die and I kept many of the pages for scrap paper or reminders of actual places I wanted to visit.
